19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He defended 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
